| Beginning as Brooks-Allison & Associates in 1953 by J.W. Brooks and Robert Allison, the company has grown to be one of the most respected electrical contractors in the Atlanta area. In 1972 the business was split into two parts with the inside electrical work portion going with Mr. Allison to form Allison Smith Company and the outside portion going with Mr. Brooks to form Brooks-Berry-Haynie & Associates along with Maynard Berry and R.J. Haynie. Mr. Brooks retired in 1975 and Mr. Haynie left the business in 1979. In 1984 Mr. Berry retired and sold the business in 1984 to F. Wayne Costley and J. Alex Owen. Mr. Costley retired in 1997 leaving Mr. Owen as the sole owner. Currently Mr. Owen and his wife, Marilyn, are the sole owners.
The business has retained the same name even though its namesakes are no longer working there because of the reputation the name Brooks-Berry-Haynie has built up over the years. We do not spend any money on advertising and rely solely on this reputation to earn us business. Brooks-Berry-Haynie has grown to be a company employing on average 70-80 employees and has annual sales on average of $15 million. We believe our size places us perfectly to be large enough to tackle the big projects, but small enough to provide small-business type attention and service to our customers. We are licensed electrical contractors in every state in the Southeast United States, licensed low voltage contractors in Georgia and South Carolina, and licensed Utility Contractors in Georgia. |
